How did you get into modeling and how long have you been modeling?

I was on a leave of absence from Howard due to financial issues, and I decided I needed something to take my mind off the fact that everyone else was in class and I wasn't. I answered an ad on Craigslist from a photographer looking for models. We did a shoot together and he was the one who directed me to ModelMayhem. I worked with a few designers in the DMV area for a while, but stopped to focus on my senior year at Howard University. So I'd guess I'd say I've been modeling for about two years total.

What are your modeling goals or what you seek to accomplish while modeling?

As an actor, I would love to get into commercial modeling. Getting to use both skills in one arena is the best of both worlds for me. I'm also into Cosplay even though I've never gotten a chance to do it. My dad is a big comic buff, so I get that from him. I actually have this concept for a series of shoots to create a coffee table book highlighting Black female Superheroes. (We all know Storm, but there are others!) Mostly I just love working to bring concepts of the shoot to life.It keeps my artistic skills sharp.

What has been your biggest gig so far?

I was just recently in a play called J.B. at the American Century Theatre. Though it wasn't a big part, a few of the reviews of the show mentioned me! On the modeling side, I got into promotional modeling about a year ago, so I work with a few different companies promoting liquor and beer. This has been an awesome experience and has opened me up to other opportunities!

What is your dream modeling/acting gig?

I would love to do any type of dance inspired shoot. Those shots can be breathtaking.

What are your favorite modeling areas?

Commercial, Fashion, Print, Portrait, Cosplay

Your favorite photographers you have worked with?

Kirk McGurk and Jai Spade. Both are phenomenal photographers. They don't hesitate to tell you what they are looking for, they're very open to new ideas and concepts, and they don't waste time getting great shots!

List 3 interesting fun facts about you?

a) I'm a member of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity. Some members of my undergrad chapter include vocalists from the acappella group AfroBlue, most recently featured on the TV show "The Sing-Off". They are all amazing ladies and I'm so proud to call them my sisters.
b) As an actor, I get asked one question constantly. Yes, I can cry on cue. It's not fun, but it can be useful *:) happy
c) I tend to whistle the theme song to "The A-Team" when I'm either bored or thinking. This tends to generate a lot of stares.

Your favorite quotes?

Freedom is not something that anybody can be given; freedom is something people take and people are as free as they want to be.----James Baldwin (My absolute favorite writer)

What do you bring to the table as a model? In other words, what can companies agencies/photographers expect when working with you?

One thing I've always been complimented on is my posing. I'm really flexible (thanks to 6 years of dance training) so I try to utilize every part of my body. Each pose I do is different from the one before it. I don't mind being given direction or giving my own ideas about specific shots. I have a very outgoing personality and I'm not shy about asking questions.
